Aiming High for Disabled Children - Group Activity Programmes
Closely linked to Circles of Support, InterActs group activity programmes funded through Aiming High for Disabled Children provide a range of Me Time opportunities and activities for young people (age 13+) with disabilities. These also give parents valuable Me Time, as respite from caring responsibilities.
Currently, there are regular group activities in Basildon, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Colchester and Tendring localities, planned to meet young peoples needs, interests and availability.
- informal sports and social events , e.g. bowling, cinema, Quasar, basketball, football, trampolining
- dance, drama and art and craft workshops
- cooking, shopping, meals out
- outdoor pursuits
- day trips during the school holidays
With active support and encouragement from peer group volunteers and InterAct staff, young people also achieve greater independence and self-confidence, developing practical life skills such as money, IT and travel skills within their local communities.
Some feedback from parents:
He loves these activities always comes home with a great smile on his face

Dance Workshop
He is really enjoying it. He is making new friends which is what we want
Thank you so much for doing these activities. Hes getting too old to want to go bowling and things like that with me now, and because of his needs he wouldnt be able to do fun activities with his own age group if it wasnt for this.
