Mental Health - Introduction

The main thrust of InterAct's mental health work is:

  • Promoting good mental health and changing attitudes to mental health and mental ill health
  • Supporting people with mental health difficulties into a range of beneficial activities, including learning and work as well as social activities

Changing attitudes: As part of our drive to change attitudes we have launched our "One Day" campaign based on the well known statistic:

'Every year 1 in 4 people has some kind of mental health problem'

And pointing out that:

'One Day it might be someone important to you'

Support: Until recently this was delivered by two departments, Bridges to Education and Bridges to Work.

The core activities of these departments were:

·          supporting people with mental health concerns to access learning either as a preventative measure or as part of their recovery

·          supporting people with mental health concerns into employment and other meaningful work

but please follow the Broader Support link to find out about the far wider range of services now provided by the combined mental health programme.
