Broader support
Our main, Essex-wide service supports adults with mental health issues into a broad range of evidence-based beneficial activities including clubs, societies, interest groups, confidence-building classes, skills for life training and wider learning opportunities. We work closely with colleagues who provide support into work and have historically placed a strong emphasis on suppoting clients into learning and training. However, there is a growing body of evidence which shows that other activities such as exercise, self-help groups and community-based activiites that help to develop social networks can promote good mental health. Our team has information on thousands of local groups and activities so we're confident that, by providing a client focussed supported sign posting service, we can find something helpful for anybody. | ![]() |
As part of an integrated service members of the team also provide:
- Consultation with service providers plus training to help them promote good mental health, provide a good service to people with mental health problems and develop new services
- Free mental health awareness training to college front line staff
- Workplace mental health awareness and stress management training for other employers and/or their staff across Essex. This in on a paid for basis, though we can often find funding e.g. for voluntary and community sector employers, staff and volunteers to cover charges.
- The mental health module of the joint NHS/Jobcentre Plus 'Condition Management' programme in various parts of Essex. This is part of the government's Pathways to Work pilot in Essex.
- InterAct's Clinical Supervision for staff is also led by a member of the broader signposting team
